For a new generation of point-of-sales payment terminals, Atos Worldline turned to Namahn to create a user-friendly and appealing user interface that would exploit the full potential of the large, 16-bit colour display. Making creative use of the display’s opportunities for text, colour, icons and animations, we designed an engaging user interface with the right mix of functionality and playfulness.

Explore
During an ideation workshop with Atos Wordline and an external animation expert, we examined the potential of the new hardware for the interaction, performed a role play of the payment experience, and explored opportunities for using colour, typography and animation to great effect.

Through multiple iterations, we created mock-ups with alternatives for the use of typography, colour and animation, icons and buttons, logos and images. Our conceptual design also covered screen flow, user actions, navigation and page layout.

We used a sequence of still images to illustrate the payment flow for customers and the administration flow for merchants. This enabled us to present dynamic behaviour without the need to create complex animations.

We delivered the visual design including icons, logos and images. Atos Worldline developers benefited from receiving a complete set of digital assets.

Define
With the needs of the developers in mind, we created a comprehensive specification document covering the whole user interface of the application framework.
Making creative use of the display’s opportunities for text, colour, icons and animations, we designed an engaging user interface with the right mix of functionality and playfulness. Our continuous involvement in the development of the Atos Worldline/Banksys payment terminals has positioned them at the leading edge in their market. Thanks to the quality of our designers, Atos Worldline can be sure their interface design is complete, customised and future-proof.
