Master Class: Mobile Design

Now is an exciting time to be working in information technology. Science fiction’s wildest speculations about the future have been overtaken by what smartphones and tablets can do already — and even though the devices are so powerful, the technology is more accessible and easier to use than ever before. If you are excited about discovering the possibilities of mobile software and what going mobile can mean for you, if you want to learn how to go about designing a mobile application or website that is user-friendly and complies with current standards … this is the course for you

Led by David Morgan and with contributions from Namahn's senior designers, this highly practical master class tests the knowledge of a small group of participants and teaches them how to apply HCD techniques to the design of software for mobile devices

Overview

In a one day master class you will delve into the intricacies of designing software for mobile products. We follow the process from mobile strategy considerations to building and testing prototypes. You will learn about:

• Human Centered Design principles for mobile
• Choosing between mobile websites and native apps
• The opportunities and limitations of responsive and fluid web design
• The types of behaviour that mobile users display
• A practical guide to developing a human-centered mobile design
• An understanding of the available tools and methods

In Namahn’s design studio we’ll share many examples, try out practical exercises and generally explore.

Registration

The fee for participation is €700 (excluding VAT). Each additional participant from the same company qualifies for a 10% rebate on the participation fee. To ensure diversity, we accept at most two participants from the same organisation. To ensure a highly interactive session we accept at most eight participants. Target audience

This master class is intended for designers, design consultants, innovation advisors, business analysts, product managers, service managers and R&D staff. Ideally, you will already have some awareness of User Centered Design methods such as the ones we teach in our master class on Human-Centered Interaction Design.
